North American P-51C-10 “Mustang”
S/N: 43-25057 | N4651C | QP-B
Restored as:
“Boise Bee”
Major Duane Willard "Bee" Beeson
Commander 334th Fighter Squadron
4th Fighter Group
Mustang LLC, Meridan, ID

Livery representing on of the still flying Merlin Mustangs in the US and restored as none other than "Boise Bee"!
"Boise Bee" belonged to one of the 4th Fighter Groups aces, Captain Duane W. Beeson. The Captain hailed from Boise, Idaho (hence the name) and like many of the other "Debden Eagles", joined the war by volunteering with the RCAF with the famous No. 71 Eagle Squadron.
Once transferred over in 1943, Beeson would start with the P-47 and sporting the same famous nose art you see here. Later in October, he would become the groups first Ace.
He would be promoted to Commander of the 334th Fighter Squadron and with the newly introduced B Mustangs. The real "Bee" was a B model and if you recognize the livery, it was made many years ago by one my buds, @fenris
in "Wings of Prey".
In March, 1945 he would become the Army's most successful Ace with 17 air kills. The next month, he would be shot down by German ground fire (flak) and captured. He would spend the rest of the war there until the camp was liberated by Soviet forces. While a POW, he would be promoted to Captain.
Captain Beeson would make it back to base but too late for the war in the Pacific. He would go home and marry his wife Tracy Walter in January, 1946.
The restored aircraft never saw military service, and sadly was plagued with accidents and crashes throughout her career. It even raced in the Reno races in 2011 and is now owned by Mustang LLC in Meridian, Idaho.
Special thanks to @AnelToro089 for the UV for the new model.
