CV9030 FIN as CV90 Mk 4 Demonstration Vehicle, Kymen Jääkäripataljoona, Kymjp, Karjalan Prikaati, Valkeala, Finland, 2022
Evening all. Back to the CV9030 FIN, this one took a little while :D
Having had the great honour of one of my skins for the CV9030 FIN being featured in the latest Thunder Show ( ) it was funny as I was just trying to put the finishing touches to another one. This is a lot more clean-finished than that work, as befits a show-off demo vehicle.
In another case of creative source "bashing" I'm combining the most recent version of the CV90 as a demo vehicle for BAE in Sweden along with an actual Finnish Army vehicle, in a video on the way to some shooting practice.
It may amaze you that I chose that Finnish vehicle because it has more marks on it than the average Finnish CV90, as I love my marks and the Maavoimat like to keep things to the minimum as far as I can see.
The amazing pattern might well be designed more to attract attention than to avoid it, though presumably such a thorough splinter does much to break up the vehicle's profile. There seem to be a few variations of the pattern, with it partially applied, then up to a certain level on the turret, then covering almost all surfaces visible vertically on the turret. I've gone for the intermediate stage as the Demo vehicle has cleaner surfaces than our CV9030 FIN, which doesn't lend itself to full coverage as much.
I've also added the pattern to the vertical areas surrounding the cupola over the rear compartment, a feature not on the Mk 4, but a touch I liked to keep it on theme.
The pattern was fully reconstructed by myself following the refs I could get, with some variance to the slight differences in the body of the vehicle, particularly to the rear and on the lower side skirt sections. I've also trialled the vehicle in various light conditions and then adjusted repeatedly to try and match the different hues based on the sources I have while also wanting to achieve an attractive result.
I believe the Mk 4 still Demo vehicle was using the same Bushmaster as the FIN, however it also boasts a twin launcher for the MBDA Akeron ATGM in an armoured launcher on the turret side. I'm sure that is something we'd all enjoy as a bit of an upgrade over the STRF 9040 BILL?
Anyway, having done the groundwork here I may do another skin based on some of the other versions of this pattern that are around, so if you like the look then watch this space...
